Rare mosquito-borne disease afflicts Tapaznons
‘It destroys a person’s life’
ROXAS CITY –The first ever-documented cases of Filariasis, a rare mosquito-borne disease, were found in Tapaz, Capiz last month.
The disease which, if not treated early, results to the weird enlargement of thigh, leg, breast or scrotum, reportedly first afflicted some Tapaz residents as far back as the early 1980s.

Group of 3 linked to motorcycle theft falls in anti-drug operation
ROXAS CITY –A group of three believed to be behind on the number of cases of motorcycle-theft in Capiz was arrested last week for another crime: Selling illegal drugs.
Arrested were Kenneth Dorado, 27, of Barangay Bahit and Ronnie Menistro,25, of Barangay Agkilo, both from Panitan, Capiz; and Eugene Baylon,26, of Barangay Tanque in Roxas City.

College scholars receive cash assistance from solon
DUMALAG, Capiz – Some 1,000 college scholars of Capiz Second District Rep. Fredenil H. Castro received financial allowances recently.
Liga ng mga Barangay Provincial Federation President and Sangguniang Panlalawigan ex-officio Clemente “Bodong” Firmalino Jr. said each scholar received P2,500 from the congressman in a program held at the newly constructed Dumalag Civic Center here.

Capiz interactive tourism exhibit opens
