Roxas City - With the addition of St. Michael Montessori, inc. (SMMI) as the newest member-school in the twenty-one (21) Capiz Private Schools Association, Incorporated (CAPRISA, Inc.) from the Basic Education (Elementary & Secondary levels) and Tertiary Level in this city and province of Capiz, hold its annual CAPRISA Meet 2008 last September 22-26, 2008 with this year’s theme: “The Filipino Youth: Accepting the Challenge for Change”.
The annual celebration, which aims to enhance and develop the athletic abilities and socio-cultural talents as well as develop camaraderie, friendship and promote the true spirit of sportsmanship among CAPRISA students/athletes and contestants, formally opened at the Capiz Gymnasium at 3:00 o’clock in the afternoon after the foot parade was postponed due to bad weather condition.

The opening ceremony was honored by the energetic and sports minded governor of the province of Capiz, Honorable Victor A. Tanco, Sr. In his message, he strongly emphasized four important values in sports: discipline, honesty, sportsmanship and teamwork. The CAPRISA sports competition is to strengthen the relationship of and among member institutions, he opined.
The meet was formally and officially opened by the association president, Rev. Msgr. Vicente H. Hilata, PA, PG. Present during the opening celebration are the Heads/Presidents/Administrators of the association member-schools headed by its other officers Dr. Expedito A. Seneres, CAPRISA Vice-President. Hon. Monchit Albar, Sanguniang Bayan member of the City was also present.
The occasion was also highlighted by cheer and dance exhibition of St. Anthony’s College-Roxas (SAC-R), Filamer Christian College (FCC), Colegio de la Purisima Concepcion (CPC) and College of St. John-Roxas (CSJ-R), as well as drum and lyre exhibition of St. Mary’s Academy of Capiz (SMAC) and Parish School of St. Isidore (PSSI) Drum & Bugle Corps.
The sports competition started right after the opening program in the different playing venues: Athletics – Villareal Stadium (VS) rubberized track oval; Basketball – VS B/B Open B/B Court & Capiz Gym; Sepak Takraw, Lawn Tennis & Volleyball – VS Open Courts, except V/B-Elementary – CPC Main Campus, Taekwondo, Capiz Gym, Table Tennis & Badminton – FCC Covered Court & Chess – FCC Main Library, and Swimming – VS Swimming Pool.
The Socio-Cultural Contests was held at the Civic Center, while the English Festival was done at the FCC Roblee Hall.

The week-long celebration was indeed a worthwhile and wholesome experience of pupils and students of the CAPRISA member-schools.
The over-all results of the 2008 CAPRISA Meet was dominated by Filamer Christian College after it swift as the Over-All Champion in all levels: Elementary level: Overall Champion with 41G; 19S; 19B, 1st Runner-Up-CPC with 12G; 1S; 4B & 2nd Runner-Up’-SMAC with only 9G; 17S & 7B; Secondary level: Over-all Champion: Filamer Christian College with 36G; 20S; 21B, 1st Runner-Up-SMAC with 19G; 22S & 14B; 2nd Runner-Up-CPC with only 15G; 14S & 4B; Tertiary level-Over-all Champion: Filamer Christian College with 82G; 27S & 30B; 1st Runner-Up-CPC with only 69G; 41S & 9B; 2nd Runner-Up-HERCOR with 17G; 37S & 33B.

and im so proud to know that fcc grabbed many golds..
