Capiz interactive tourism exhibit opens

Roxas City (24 September) – An interactive exhibit showcasing tourist destinations in captivating Capiz dubbed “Sid-ing” opened today at the Provincial Capitol’s Hall of Governors here as part of the activities for the Provincial Tourism Week Celebration from Sept. 21 to 27.

The interactive exhibit is a collaborative effort of the provincial government and the Organization of Tourism Officers of Capiz (OTOC).

“An oath taking of OTOC officers was also be conducted during the exhibit,” said a Provincial Tourism Office (PTO) staff.

The PTO is spearheading the celebration with the theme “Tourism: Responding to the Challenges of Climate Change.

Other activities for the weeklong celebration also include the setting up of a photo exhibit of various tourist attractions in the province last Sept. 23 at Gaisano Marketplace here and forum on climate change last Sept. 22 and 23.

The celebration is stipulated in a resolution of Capiz Sangguniang Panlalawigan (SP) members Alfonso Bediones, Jr. and Nenita Martelino which was duly approved by the provincial legislative council during its regular session early this month.

“Capiz attunes itself with other provinces in designating the last week of September as Provincial Tourism Week being within the tourism belt in the Central Philippines Super Regions identified by President Gloria Macapagal – Arroyo,” said SP members Bediones and Martelino.

The highlight of the celebration will be the launching of the 1st Capiz Dance Season on Sept. 27 at the Capiz Provincial Park.

The upcoming dance extravaganza dubbed “Saot Capiz” is a joint project of the provincial government and the National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA).
