Group of 3 linked to motorcycle theft falls in anti-drug operation

ROXAS CITY –A group of three believed to be behind on the number of cases of motorcycle-theft in Capiz was arrested last week for another crime: Selling illegal drugs.

Arrested were Kenneth Dorado, 27, of Barangay Bahit and Ronnie Menistro,25, of Barangay Agkilo, both from Panitan, Capiz; and Eugene Baylon,26, of Barangay Tanque in Roxas City.

Their arrest was made during a buy-bust operation conducted on the night of Sept. 23 in Barangay Bang-Bang in Roxas City by the Intelligence Division of the Regional Police Office headed by Supt. Ricardo Alba Jr. and the 604th Mobile Group.

Police reportedly recovered from them four sachets of suspected metamphetamine hydrochloride or shabu , a sachet of suspected marijuana leaves and P300 marked bills.

A .357 caliber with six pieces of special bullets was also seized from the Hyundai van boarded by the suspects.

According to Alba, the three had been under surveillance for a week prior to the buy-bust.

He claimed that the group is also engaged in stealing motorcycles.

He recalled that when he was still the police chief of Panitan town a few years ago, Dorado was already into the illegal drug trade. Dorado was also linked to the killing of a person but he managed to amicably settle the case by paying the victim’s family, added Alba.
