Climate change focus of Tourism Week Sept. 21-27

       ROXAS CITY – The Capiz provincial board through board members Alfonso Bediones and Nenita Martelino has passed a resolution declaring Sept. 1 to 27 this year  and every last week of September thereafter as “Tourism Week.”

         This year’s theme isTourism Responding to the Challenge of Climate Change.”

         The resolution states that it has been the provincial policy to put premiums on local tourism enhancement as it stirs economic activity, generates jobs and income thus, making tourism a great contributor in the general economic growth.

         Captivating Capiz, being within the tourism belt in the Philippines Super Regions identified by President Macapagal-Arroyo, attunes itself with other provinces in terms of beautiful  tourism destinations.

         This year’s observance of Tourism Week also coincides with the World Tourism Day.

        According to Bediones, the provincial Tourism Week is celebrated to foster awareness in the community on the importance of tourism and its social, cultural, political and economic implications.

    maybe its time for the capizenos to recognize how beautiful the province and the city itself…Its a wake up call for the gov’t to take some actions in promoting the city tourism….its a big insult that the young capizenos even the older ones that they were better familiar with boracay, racsos, sm, sampaguita garden but never been familiar or even known the city’s undiscover beauty….
