250 kids get free health services under Garantisadong Pambata

PANITAN, Capiz  – The provincial government led by Gov. Victor Tanco launched the October round of Garantisadong Pambata (GP) on Oct. 10 at the Dadivas Civic Center here.

        Two hundred -fifty children aged 0-5 years have availed themselves of the various health services offered by the program. 

        The program  is a package of eight public health interventions aimed at ensuring child survival.

        Twice a year (April and October), services for children aged 0-5 years, including Vitamin A supplementation,  deworming and immunization, are highlighted to ensure that children receive them.

        Also,  crucial information on safe pregnancy, breastfeeding and proper nutrition, birth spacing and child injury prevention are provided to women and care givers so that they become effective partners in promoting the health of children.

        This year, the provincial launching of GP was hosted by the Municipality of Panitan and organized by the Provincial Health Office.

        All the 50 children received complete GP services.  They also underwent dental examination and received oral health packs.

        In his speech, Governor Tanco rallied the community, local leaders and other stakeholders to commit to ensue the success of GP and to secure the future of children.

        This month of October, parents and caregivers are encouraged to bring their children aged 0-5 years to the nearest health center to receive complete and free GP services. (IPHO, Provincial Press Bureau)
