Capiz population is 701,664

          Roxas City, Capiz – a Philippine Information Agency (PIA) report placed the total population of the province of Capiz at 701,664 based on the 2007 Census of Population conducted in August last year. This figure was shown posted in the National Statistics Office (NSO) website.

           According to NSO Provincial Statistics Officer Eriberto Esclamad, the figure is as of August with a growth rate of 0.97 from year 2000 to 2007.”

          Esclamad said President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo has issued Proclamation 1489 declaring the officials results of the Population Census 2007 which placed the total population of the Philippines as of August 1 at 88,574,614 million.

          The total population of the Philippine in 2000 (based on the 2000 Census of Population and Housing) was 76.50 million while it was recorded at 68.62 million in 1995 (based on the 1995 MidDecade Census).

          NSO Administrator Carmelita Ericta said the 2007 and 2000 census figures translated into an average annual population growth rate of 2.04 percent for the period 2000 to 2007, stressing that it was the lowest annual population growth rate recorded for the Philippines since the 1960s.
