Nature and rationale:

  • A venue for the Indigenous Peoples (IP’s) to celebrate the richness of their unique culture and allowing a cultural exchange that will foster deeper cultural understanding on the role of culture and the IP’s community in Eco-Tourism.
  • Aan opportunity for dialogue between legislators, local government executives and IP
    leaders on IP rights and other concerns
  • Deepen awareness, understanding , and appreciation of the diversity of Filipino culture and other communities particularly the students from various schools, colleges and universities.
  • Recognition of the expertise and works of cultural community masters;
  • A venue for advocacy to preserve and integrate traditional culture and its various creative expressions as a dynamic part of the national mainstream.

Sandbar: A real ‘catch’ to folks and guests alike

Baybay beach, with its fine gray sand and cool air, asserts its “rightful place in the sun” amid the proliferation of hotels, amenities, restaurants, bars and the like in the area and with no less than resident-investors putting their money where their mouths are.

            The latest to rise in the idyllic Baybay beach is a new resto-bar called Sandbar, deemed one of the coolest places in town.  It is owned by the Ortiz family.

 

            Baybay beach with a coastline that spans about 8 kilometers, has been acclaimed by no less than Tourism regional director Edwin Trompeta as among the country’s finest gray-sand beaches. Continue reading
