Capiz population is 701,664

          Roxas City, Capiz – a Philippine Information Agency (PIA) report placed the total population of the province of Capiz at 701,664 based on the 2007 Census of Population conducted in August last year. This figure was shown posted in the National Statistics Office (NSO) website.

           According to NSO Provincial Statistics Officer Eriberto Esclamad, the figure is as of August with a growth rate of 0.97 from year 2000 to 2007.”

Capiz crackdown on illegal firearms ordered

Roxas City, Capiz (10 October) — Western Visayas has about 6,300 unregistered firearms, says the Philippine National Police (PNP).

According to the report of the PNP in its online news, an estimated 35,000 unregistered firearms have been recorded in the Autonomous Region of Muslim Mindanao (ARMM) while Metro Manila has about 20,700 unregistered guns.

Capiz interactive tourism exhibit opens

Roxas City (24 September) – An interactive exhibit showcasing tourist destinations in captivating Capiz dubbed “Sid-ing” opened today at the Provincial Capitol’s Hall of Governors here as part of the activities for the Provincial Tourism Week Celebration from Sept. 21 to 27.

The interactive exhibit is a collaborative effort of the provincial government and the Organization of Tourism Officers of Capiz (OTOC).

CAPELCO nets 191 power bandits in 2007

ROXAS CITY – the Capiz Electric Cooperative (CAPELCO) has apprehended 191 member-consumers committing electricity pilferage activities in 2007.

This was revealed by CAPELCO General Manager Engr. Edgar Diaz as part of General Manager’s Report in view of the cooperative’s upcoming 33^rd annual general membership assembly on August 23.

CAPELCO has introduced the free cell phone load promo in middle of 2007 to encourage wider participation form the cooperative’s member consumers in the campaign against power pilferage.
