Dagoon is new Roxas City PNP Chief

Roxas City PNPROXAS CITY, Capiz, Jan. 14 (PIA) — A turn over of command ceremony has installed Supt. Salvador Dagoon as the new Roxas City Police Station (RCPS) chief last Jan. 12 here.

Dagoon, who succeeds outgoing Roxas City police director Supt. Kashmir Disomangcop, said in his message during the ceremony that the campaign against illegal drugs and other forms of lawlessness will be a priority of RCPS under his watch.

“I am asking the support of the people of Roxas City, city government and the private sector to work together so that peace and order and justice will prevail upon us,” he said. Continue reading

Pest attacks Capiz rice farms

Roxas City (27 September) — The rice plantation in Capiz is now suffering from pest infestation.

In a Pest Infestation Advisory of Provincial Agriculturist Sylvia Dela Cruz to Capiz Governor Victor Tanco, she said that the field situation of the rice farmers and the changes in climatic condition are very favorable to the occurrence of insect pests and diseases.

Dela Cruz said that the most prevalent insect pest that attacks the rice plantation here is the brown planthopper which is commonly known to rice farmers as “kaki nga wayawaya.”

As of September 22, 2010, the brown planthopper had already affected 6,562 hectares while the area damaged reached 3,581.55 hectares, she said, adding that 11 percent of the total area planted with rice is already totally damaged. Continue reading

PPCRV Capiz prepares for barangay polls

Roxas City (27 September) — The Parish Pastoral Council for Responsible Voting (PPCRV) – Capiz Chapter has conducted an orientation to its members last Sept. 25 at the Mass Communications Production Room of the Colegio dela Purisima Concepcion here in preparation for the forthcoming Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) elections on October 25.

The orientation also reminded the participants on the calendar of events as well as the prohibited activities to watch out towards election day.

A similar activity was also conducted by the Chapter last Aug. 28.

Recently, the Commission on Elections (COMELEC) has announced that those aspiring for village and youth council seats may file their certificates of candidacy (COCs) from October 1 to 13. Continue reading

Capiz gives 900 packs of relief goods to flood-hit areas

Roxas City (14 January) — About 900 packs of relief goods were distributed by the provincial government of Capiz to families in various flashflood-hit barangays of Sigma and Pan-ay towns.

“The packs are composed of rice, packs of noodles and sardines,” said Provincial Social Welfare and Development Officer Violeta Silva.

The province’s relief assistance was augmented by REACT Halaran, a socio-civic organization.

Heavy equipments were also extended by the province in the rehabilitation efforts of three barangays in the municipality of .. Continue reading

Capiz’ filariasis hunt underway

A province-wide deformity survey is being conducted by the Provincial Health Office (PHO) in coordination with the local government units to identify and document possible additional filariasis cases in other towns.

 

 

 

Roxas City, Capiz (13 October) – “One more case has been recorded outside Tapaz,” said PHO Medical Specialist IV Evelyn T. Bolido of the on-going survey.

The survey is the PHO’s plan of actions following a documented filariasis cases in Tapaz town during a survey by a team of health workers last September. Continue reading

Capiz to join 1st Global Handwashing Day

A simultaneous hand washing activity will be conducted in all Rural Health Units (RHU) in the province on October 15, 2008 in line with the 1st worldwide observance of the first ever Global Handwashing Day.

Roxas City, Capiz (13 October) — “A corner designated as the hand washing area will be established by the RHUs province wide,” said Provincial Health Office Sanitary Inspector Jane delos Reyes, who convened the province’s Rural Sanitary Inspectors for the upcoming event. Continue reading

Capiz LGUs sign MOA with DTI, GTZ to streamline business permit processing

Roxas City, Capiz (10 October) — This capital city and municipality of Dumarao have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) and German Technical Cooperation (GTZ) for the streamlining of their Business Permit Licensing System (BPLS) to provide better services to local businesses, attract more investors and increase revenue collections.

The MOU was signed in two separate events held October 8 by Vice Mayor Querubin Pamplona for Dumarao and City Mayor Vicente Bermejo for Roxas City with DTI Regional Director Dominic Abad and GTZ Coordinator for the Visayas Dr. Volker Steigerwald. Capiz crackdown on illegal firearms ordered

Roxas City, Capiz (10 October) — Western Visayas has about 6,300 unregistered firearms, says the Philippine National Police (PNP).

According to the report of the PNP in its online news, an estimated 35,000 unregistered firearms have been recorded in the Autonomous Region of Muslim Mindanao (ARMM) while Metro Manila has about 20,700 unregistered guns. Continue reading
