‘Sigbin’ kills fowls anew, residents claim

ROXAS City — A suspected chupacabra, locally known as sigbin was again sighted in the province, reportedly sucking blood out of chickens and geese.

Marjorie Bunsalan of Pilar town said she saw a dog-looking creature attacking her chicken and geese.

She described the creature as “having red eyes” and stands “as high as human’s waist.”

“My children and I were then watching television. We were shocked when we heard a loud noise made by chickens at the back of our house,” she said, adding that the creature hurriedly left upon seeing them.

Other town residents attested to Bunsalan’s claims, saying they also saw the sigbin attack and ate their chicken and geese.

In 2008, residents of Brgy. Dumolog here believed that a sigbin killed their chickens. The fowls were found headless. Continue reading

Can P4.9-B Floodway Stop Floods?

ROXAS CityGov. Victor Tanco Sr. wants the almost P5-billion Panay River Basin Flood Control Project implemented at the soonest possible time. He believes it will solve the perennial flooding problem of the province.

City Hall Mulls Biometrics to Ensure Workers’ Attendance

ROXAS City – To ensure the attendance of its employees — and stop their tardiness – the city government is planning to buy eight biometric time clocks.

Mayor Angel Alan Celino observed that some city hall employees reported late, some by an hour.

“Using high technology such as biometrics, I hope employees will report to work and leave office on time,” the mayor stressed.

College scholars receive cash assistance from solon

DUMALAG, Capiz – Some 1,000 college scholars of Capiz Second District Rep. Fredenil H. Castro received financial allowances recently.

Liga ng mga Barangay Provincial Federation President and Sangguniang Panlalawigan ex-officio Clemente “Bodong” Firmalino Jr. said each scholar received P2,500 from the congressman in a program held at the newly constructed Dumalag Civic Center here. Continue reading

Court resets arraignment of suspects in Roxas slay

ROXAS City– Regional Trial Court (RTC) Judge Edward Contreras yesterday reset the arraignment of the two suspects in the killing of Radio Mindanao Network DyVR anchorman Martin Roxas on December 2.

Atty. Ma. Romelaine Joy Tipo, counsel of accused Joenel Lastimoso and Kristian Tan, said they will ask the Department of Justice (DOJ) to review the resolution issued by the Roxas City Prosecutor’s Office, which denied their motion for reconsideration.

During the scheduled arraignment on September 2, the court granted the petition of the defense to reset it on September 16. Continue reading
