Maayon was created a municipality thru Republic Act 1203 signed into law by the late President Ramon Magsaysay, Sr. on March 30, 1955. It was formerly an “arrabal” of the municipality of Pontevedra until that eventful day when it was created into a new and separate municipality known as the Municipality of Maayon.It is composed of thirty-two (32) barangays with a land area of 18,002 hectares. Its total population based on the census survey in the year 2,000 is 32, 700 with an annual growth rate put at 1.11%. Maayon is situated in the south-eastern portion of Capiz and is 31.6 kilometres far from Roxas City, the seat of the provincial government.
Some portion of the town is considered flat and hilly and its eastern section is mountainous. Due to the existence of the Maayon River which flows from the boundary of Iloilo in the east towards the Panay River in the west, Maayon has an abundant quarry of gravel and sand.
It is believed that the mountains of Maayon have rich deposits of valuable minerals like copper, gold rock, manganese, and limestone. Its plains are fertile lands, making the town basically rice producing, and farming as the main livelihood of the inhabitants. Every harvest, Maayon produces a great surplus of palay marketed to the neighboring towns and even to nearby towns of Iloilo.
To face the challenge and greater demands for development, the incumbent local administration strives to seek its relevance to the dynamic and progressive looking provincial leadership and to keep in stride with the development pace of the rest of Capiz town, forged a VISION – a collective vision which shall be the light of its development goals:
” We envision Maayon as a peaceful, progressively developing community with an agriculture-based economy inhabited by God-loving, healthy and educated Maayonanons adequately served of basic services with sufficient food supply.”
To come to this vision, we commit to a Sustainable and Environment-Friendly Agriculture Productivity Program, a Comprehensive Social Services Program, a Community-Based Environmental Management Program, a Demand-Driven Infrastructure Development Program, a Vision-Mission-Oriented Local Government Organizational Program, a Development-Oriented Revenue-Generation Enhancement Program and People-Empowering and Participative Local Governance.

i came home last feb. 24 ,2011 and witnessed the booming culture of my hometown. The colorful parade of the tribe and their performance. their great. After a while its just a wonderful parade of talents.
I barely hope that this festivities will last for ever…………………..
But more of that is the most awaited highlight of the festival…. But before that the festival is known as HIL-O HIL-O festival its is a trait of maayonanons in planting their crops. Then the awaited highlight comes. The lin-ay sang Maayon 2011 is held 25 of february 2011. I felt so exited about this at last this competition will be amazing……… But to my disappointment something happen unexpected…… The organizer of the event is the respected Attorny Mark Borres. I don’t know if he has an error or mistake getting an organizer in the person of “JOJO” COMORO DEROY. OK lets review the pictorials and the pageant event. First they said that ALL OF THE FESTIVAL COSTUMES MUST HAVE 60% MAAYONANON PRODUCTS…….. they Qoute. SECOND ALL OF THE GOWNS MUST BE IN SERPENTINA CUT. But this criteria has not been met even if the crowned LIN-AY sang MAAYON did not meet this criteria………. The Crowned LIN-AY sang MAAYON IS CANDIDATE NO. 7 Just For Your Info and all of the awards are Given in her even she does not have the criteria to win that minor awards. The Festival costume that she use is has not the criteria of 60% MAAYONANON products. It was the costume of tribu BOLA BOLA of Dinagyang festival that she use. This not an original piece of attaire that maayonanon should have. Even in the swim suite competition is not that convincing for my review the CANDIDATE NO. 11 should win that because she have the most fit and Gorgeous body that I have ever seen in all of the candidates. OK in the first batch of Q&A portion i dont want to criticize that one. And for the info of everybody I just observe this, when you go to the back stage you will also see the anomaly of favoritism. Only one candidate has a dressing room, for the people to know, she has a curtained room an electric fan and a personal chair while the other contestant is just sitting in an open space outside of her dressing room ah ok she also have a mirror a big kind of mirror. Next one is the most promising event that i’ve ever seen in my whole life seen a pageant. All of the candidates will go to the top 5 and all they announced that all of the scores will be back to ZERO as in 0%. then what do you expect NO. 7 is the first one to be announced then followed by NO.6 then No. 2 then No. 11 and the last is No. 1. The Judges will pick the Question for all the Contestant. The First one to be asked is CONTESTANT NO. 1 and the Question is “GIVE AT LEAST 2 REASONS WHY SHOULD WE HELD THE LIN-AY SANG MAAYON NEXT YEAR AND THERE AFTER?. CONTESTANT NO. 1 answered incredibly GOOD…. Then next CONTESTANT NO. 2. did not answer it good but has the point. Next is the CONTESTANT NO. 6 and answer It Very good. AND THE HIGHLIGHT is CONTESTANT NO. 7………….. And I “Quote” AM ………….. AM………..AM…………. thank you………….. thats all. And this answer for me is HORRIBLE….. Then CONTESTANT NO. 11 it answeres good also………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………Then the RESULTS ARE IN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Fourth RUNNERS UP………………. CONTESTANT NO 2……… ok thats a fair JUDGEMET……. Next 3rd RUNNERS UP CANDIDATE NO…. 11…….. OK THATS A LITTLE UNFAIR NEXT the shocking Moment….. SECOND RUNNERS UP CANDIDATE NO. !!!!!!!!!!! 1!!!!!!!!!!! WHAT???????????? IS she the one Who Answered it CORRECTLY??? WHAT ABout NO. 7… The one who did not answere it is the FIRST RUNNER UP? TO my DISSAPPOINTMENT this is horribly wrong…….. what is going wrong all of the people are not satisfied with the judging. OHHHHHHHHHH who’s This Person next to the MCEE’s OHHHHHHH MYYYYYYY GOD its the contestant no. 7 uncle…….. who is the event organizer……. I know something will happen very wrong…………………………………….. ONE OF THE CONTESTANT before the judging cried and cried at the back stage because of the horrible judging happening……… then the five is organized back stage THEN they annonced…………….. The FIRST RUNNERS UP IS………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………….CONTESTANT NO………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………6……………………………………………………………………………………and the LIN AY SANG MAAYON IS CONTESTANT NO 7…………………………………………………………………………………………………………………MY REACTION IS………………………………………………………………………………………………WHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAT the F***************K……..
